Orlando Squeeze Partners with Elevate Orlando to Host Youth Pickleball Experience

Hamlin House and Squeeze welcome local students for a community pickleball experience centered on mentorship and opportunity in downtown Orlando 

The Orlando Squeeze and Hamlin House today announced its partnership with Elevate Orlando, a Central Florida nonprofit serving youth and families, to host an introductory pickleball session and community outing for students enrolled in Elevate Orlando programs.

Held Wednesday afternoon, April 16, at Hamlin House in downtown Orlando’s SoDo neighborhood, the two-hour experience welcomed more than 20 local high school students for hands-on instruction, interactive play, and mentorship, led by Orlando Squeeze personnel. The session introduced participants to the fundamentals of pickleball while creating a welcoming environment centered on confidence, connection, and community. 

“Pickleball gives us a unique platform to reach young people where they are — through movement, fun, and shared experience,” said Ryan DeVos, owner and general manager of the Orlando Squeeze and co-owner of Hamlin House. “Partnering with Elevate Orlando allows us to open our doors, share the game, and invest time and energy in kids who are working hard to build their futures.”

Elevate Orlando works across Central Florida to strengthen pathways for youth through education, workforce development, and neighborhood-based programming. The organization was previously recognized by the Orlando Magic and DeVos Family Foundation as part of its 30 Grants for 30 Years initiative, honoring nonprofits making a measurable impact in the community.

“For our students, this isn’t just about learning a new sport; it’s about being seen, welcomed, and encouraged,” said Breanna McKnight, Fund Development Coordinator for Elevate Orlando. “Experiences like this expand their horizons while reinforcing that there are people and places in this city rooting for their success.” 

The partnership reflects the Orlando Squeeze’s continued commitment to leveraging sport as a tool for access, mentorship, and community engagement, while also activating Hamlin House — the social‑first community hub co-founded by Ryan and Michelle DeVos — as a natural extension of that mission, bringing people together through play, hospitality, and meaningful programming.

“Hamlin House was built to be a place where everyone feels comfortable trying something new,” said Ashley Turner, president of the Orlando Squeeze and general manager of Hamlin House. “Hosting Elevate Orlando’s students alongside our team reinforces exactly why this space exists — to connect sport, community, and opportunity under one roof.”
